"Providing A Worship Experience Through Song And Testimony"
Some of you are aware that I founded and directed the Christian musical ministry "Share" for approximately 22 years. Toward the end of my educational career, I began working in high school administration and found very little time to give this ministry the necessary time needed to sustain it. I did not feel that God deserved anything but my best and, at that time in my life, I just could not give it. Therefore, God led me to retire the ministry "Share." Many years have passed and many supporters still miss this ministry and request their music! I wasn't going to begin another ministry after retirement from the school system. I was satisfied with staying at home and writing new songs. After creating this website, I began to see it reach many different people from all walks of life and from all over the world. I became overwhelmed by the kind words, the many requests for my songs, and the "voice of God" calling me to form another ministry. Through much prayer and "listening to God," I realized that He wanted me to use my talents to their fullest by providing a song and testimony program that would reach out to those needing Jesus in their lives. This was a big step for me as I would be doing this ministry solo! Well, not exactly. You see, as a Christian, you never have to do anything solo in life. It will be Jesus and me! With that combination, how can I go wrong? You noticed I put His Name first! I intend to keep it that way! The name of the ministry is "JC & Company." God gave me this name many years ago as I worked with the Christian ministry "Share." At that time, I did not know why I was given that name or what I was supposed to do with it. Wow, doesn't God work in a great way! Now, I understand how the name "JC & Company" is going to fit into my life! Now, I can see God's Plan at work! "JC & Company" stands for Jesus Christ and Company. Who is the "Company"? The "Company" is where two or more are gathered in His Name! That means everyone! That means YOU! God did not want me to name the ministry "Craig W. Ledford" ministries. That would glorify man. I intend to be obedient to God and follow His Direction to the letter, or should I say "to the note!" I am requesting your prayers as I prepare for this new journey. I will not be alone when I stand before people singing the songs that God has given to me. He will be by my side! I live near Mooresboro, North Carolina. If you don't know where that is, I'm not surprised! It's actually just about half way between Charlotte and Asheville, North Carolina. I have written gospel songs for over thirty years. After retirement from high school administration in 2002, I began writing gospel songs full-time. At one time in my life, I enjoyed playing in rock n roll bands, attending rock concerts, and singing in a local Barber Shop Quartet. I loved playing lead guitar! My favorite rock guitarist was Jimi Hendrix. I even saw him in concert! I would not rest until I could play the song "Purple Haze" just like Jimi! I knew that I was not living God's Will for my life. I was saved when I was eight years old. I constantly felt guilty for my actions and my reactions to others. When I would frequent places that I had to play guitar with the band, I would feel "cheap." I knew that I should not be in that type of environment. I had a great cop-out. I didn't drink alcohol. Therefore, I would rationalize that it was alright for me, as a Christian, to play my guitar there as long as I didn't take a drink! Man, what about my testimony! What testimony? I felt like a fish out of water! I began listening to the calling of God on my life as I left my teen age years behind. I could not stand the constant rebellion that I exhibited toward God. I began singing in the church choir, college choruses, and gospel groups throughout the area. I also began attending Christian concerts that were led by a wonderful group called "Truth." I would drive many miles to hear this group! They were so alive and inspiring to others. I became friends with their founder and director, Roger Breland, from Mobile, Alabama. Wow, I can hear them singing that great old song, "I Just Came To Praise The Lord," as I reminisce! I miss that group as they have since disbanded. Through the inspiration of this ministry, God gave me the opportunity to organize and direct a wonderful Christian ministry called "Share." We were blessed with programs in song and testimony all across the United States! God inspired me to write many of the songs that were used by this dynamic group of young people. For over twenty-two years, "Share" ministered extensively to others as we traveled across the country. I will never forget those days! Often, we would have two programs per Sunday! The bad part was that the distance between the Sunday morning program and the Sunday evening program could be two to three hundred miles! When you figure in sit up and tear down time for over three thousand pounds of sound equipment, that was a major task! Wow, I'm getting tired from even thinking about it! We never complained. We received many blessings when the invitation was given and people responded. It made it worth it all! Also, taking into consideration the time that the group spent together as we prayed, practiced, and traveled, it forged us into a close family of believers. We enjoyed the Christian fellowship! At times, we hosted over 20 members and had at least two concerts per week incorporating songs and testimonies. We performed at churches, high schools, colleges, and many other civic gatherings. I always insisted that each concert would end with an invitation for those wanting to accept Jesus into their hearts and lives. I received many blessings and I have many fond memories of opportunities that God gave me over the years to serve Him. Even today, I do not have any desire to play or even listen to anything but gospel music. After all, it's all about Jesus! Contemporary gospel music, southern gospel music, and traditional gospel music was used by the group. Over the years, "Share" made many recordings and worked with many gospel artists. This ministry no longer exists due to the fact that God changed the direction of my life with the opportunity to write and produce gospel songs full-time. As mentioned in the other article, before the ministry "Share" ended, God gave me the name, JC & Company." I did not know what I was supposed to do with that name since the ministry that I was working with was named "Share." I had no idea what God had planned for me several years later! Wow, doing God's Will is awesome! When we "let go and let God" things happen! When God allowed me to begin my new ministry, He reminded me that I already had a name for it. I love the name "JC & Company!" I could not believe it! He puts things into place if we will only let Him! Please pray for this ministry. I know that God is in it. It's not about me. It's about Jesus! My goal is to reach as many people as possible for Jesus. God allows me to write many different styles of gospel songs. I know that I am only one among many Christian songwriters, but I believe that God is using my songs to bridge the gap between all styles of gospel music. Each song that I write offers a different perspective of the same gospel message that "God is Love." I believe that, as Christians, we must be able to reflect the Love Of Jesus to others. As a Christian, our life should be like a mirror. We should reflect the "Love Of Jesus." If our mirror is covered in sin, God's Love cannot reflect to a lost and dying world. I want to be an effective witness for Jesus! Don't you? I always told members of "Share" that the vocal parts must be heard over the instrumentation. As a full-time gospel singer/songwriter, I make certain that the message in each song is heard while the instrumentation is used to carry and support the message. The message in a gospel song must be heard or the song is without purpose. My hope is that, through my songs, listening audiences will receive a spiritual blessing.
